An Old Standby

The LORD is my Shepherd
i shall not want
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures
He leadeth me beside the still waters
He restoreth my soul
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His Name's sake

yea, though i walk through the valley of the shadow of death
i will fear no evil
for Thou art with me
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me

Thou preparest a table before in the presence of mine enemies
Thou anointest my head with oil
my cup runneth over
surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life
and i will dwell in the house of the LORD
Forever.

Amen and I sure hope so..I love this it does comfort one to read it even if it is about dying mainly because that is what we are working on here on earth the hope to be with Him forever............

this was my first experience with the Bible when I was about 10 years old. Even before I realized that God was real He was telling me that He was taking care of me. I remember my best friend and I sitting under a table reading this psalm together and having her tell me "isn't it great how God takes care of us" me not quite comprehending but the seed was planted

we always take this psalm to be about dying...and we often read it when someone dies...

but it is about how God really is with us and cares for us all thru life...up to and including death.

that's a neat story...when i think of how God was always at work in my life, including the times i was resisting His work, i'm pretty amazed.
